Artist Statement
Inspired by research and personal experiences, my work explores the relationships between humans, industry, and non-human nature. I seek to better understand how we as humans interact with one another and how we can connect with the multitude of species and natural elements we live among. I am particularly interested in the ways that we are both victims and perpetuators of a society dedicated to efficiency and profit at the cost of environmental degradation, human health concerns, animal welfare and other social justice issues. In depicting these stories, I shift between figurative and abstract imagery to reflect on the subject through both data and emotion. I have generated this body of work to create a therapeutic experience and a platform for discussing the restructuring of our civilization.
